1990 300sel had bad oil leaks so i had valve job done and used Victor head gasket. Thanks to those who helped on my posts :)
it took a bit to burp cooling system but temp fluctutions seem to be gone.

I did about 50 miles tonight and the power is great. My trans shifted hard at first and didnt seem to hit overdrive on highway. i have checked fluid level and its ok. Kickdown works ok. trans just seems to hold gears long and likes throttle realeased to shift (vacuum surge).

Does anyone have a resource of data for trans adjustments and checks? Thanks in advance.

The only adjustment is the bowden cable. adjust so that you just pull the cable firm to take out slack. your may be to tight.

When I recently did my head gasket I noticed the trans would downshift into first too easily when pulling from a stop. It would start in 2nd and then drop to first if I pushed too far on pedal. (even when I was not really trying ot start fast) a few turn and it was good now.

I noticed more power after the new chain and that affected how the tran felt.

Now that you have the head done, when is last time you changed tran fluid. s/b every 30K. dont wait!

trans

i agree that it is a different car now. 70 mph is effortless with 40-70mph rather brisk.
Motor mounts were badly needed and car is very smooth now.

I am getting accustomed to the shift and all gears are all there. When i get back tomorrow the cable adjustment and fluid will be addressed.

My o ring in power steering began to leak, too.
