Any reason why he used carb cleaner and not throttle body cleaner? I read somewhere that pre ignition throttle body is basically a carburetor lol
Should i be using the carb cleaner and degreaser like him or does the throttle body cleaner takes care of both?
Just followed this video to the detail. Put everything back together. Started car, and it’s giving irregular idle and sound like it’s revving when I’m not pressing the gas. Idk what went wrong. I now have to start from the beginning and retrace my steps. Any suggestions?

Just got code P0505 for idle air control system. I’m guessing something isn’t right when I attached the throttle body back. Maybe the gasket is in need of replacement? I ordered one on fcp it didn’t come with my first order so it’s getting shipped Monday. I don’t know what else the issue could be

Did you connect toe PCV hose correctly? It's the long hose from the PCV at the back of the engine that connects all the way to the attachment next to throttle body.

I don’t think I even touched that part. I know I removed and connected the hard plastic vacuum line that goes into the elbow in front of the throttle body. If that’s the part you’re referring to, then yes. I connected it properly. It was just a matter of putting it back and making sure it’s flushed right? I’m going to take a look at what I did and try to remove what i touched. I don’t know if the gasket on the TB is just old or something else causing this.

New codes I pulled this morning along with a picture of the catch can. It doesn’t look flushed. Could that really be a reason why this is happening? It’s just there to catch oil right? @Deplore

Another thing I might add, while I was cleaning the TB yesterday I heard a noise inside exactly like something was shaking inside of it. Like shaking a can of spray paint. Idont if that means something is wrong with the TB but I get no codes for it

I just unplugged the MAF sensor on the air filter box. The surging disappeared!! Only thing is the idle is at 1000-1200 now. It’s pretty steady compared to the last 10 starts since last night lol. Maybe I should grab a can of MAF cleaner and just spray on the sensor inside the air filter?

What about the purge valve hose? If I were you, I'd remove the intake manifold and reinstall, pay attention to the gaskets.

All this can come from trying to clean the throttle body? Could the throttle body be faulty? I heard a rattling noise inside when shaking it. The gaskets on the intake probably do need to be replaced as the car is on 120k and stuff. Is there anything I can do before removing the intake? Maybe buy a can of MAF sensor and spray they sensor inside the engine air filter? Then buy a can of throttle body cleaner and repeat the process from yesterday?
