If I’m not receiving any codes like in the second video, I should be good to just start with the throttle body cleaning and catch pan? Is there a way to check if oil has gotten into the intake without removing the intake?
Yeah, that was driving without maintaining for way too long. That car was also way low on oil every oil change, provided they changed it.

Do you know how much oil has to be lost for the “check oil level at next refuel” message to come up? I don’t see any spots from where I park overnight and I don’t really see how the little seepage from the catch can can cause the message to come back on.

I have 138k, and I'm still good, but I already have the parts, just gotta get past some health stuff and she's getting the works. All I've done is oil, filters, voltage regulator, front brakes, and radio repair.
So you never had the dreaded cam adjuster issue? Congrats man lol
yea I done the oil and filters regularly, I went with ceramic pads on the front but I don’t really like the soft feeling so I might switch back. I did a few other miscellaneous maintenance but this cam adjuster will be the biggest project by far with my basic but inquisitive knowledge, I will get it done.

I do not, but if it's sucked into the intake, remember a little oil at a time will not smoke out the exhaust as the catalytic converters will burn the smoke off, only when oil is dumping in the cylinders will you see smoke, So...

I do, just not bad, I have those parts too. Thought I heard the adjuster rattle once, but only once, and I manually turned engine over by hand many times, no jump, but if it does, I'm gonna weld the wear with stainless, will take longer to wear.

Ahhh ok I have little to no experience with welding so I’m changing mines with a helper to counter hold and the cam covers still attached. Should be fun

If you do tensioners, make sure you have the check valves installed. And if you don't replace the one time use bolts, use liquid cleaner on sealing surfaces, no scrapers, and use nut driver, and don't wrench hard to tighten

Yes, get someone to print the WIS instructions, for torque values and alignment. Should be fine.

These are a few I could think of short notice. I know of a couple better, but memory fails at the moment. The Japanese fellow has some other good videos worth a view, as well.
Any reason why he used carb cleaner and not throttle body cleaner? I read somewhere that pre ignition throttle body is basically a carburetor lol
Should i be using the carb cleaner and degreaser like him or does the throttle body cleaner takes care of both?

Some throttle body cleaners are too diluted, in my experience, I still have the first can I ever bought in the 90s.

I have the WIS instructions on my laptop. And my engine number has the update with tensioners and check valves. I was told to replace the tensioners as well for good measure since I already have them out. I don’t have a vice to carefully press them in if they are still good so I will replace them with new ones.

In WIS, it gives the tolerance for replacement. But if you're like me, I leave nothing to chance

I consider myself a student more than expert because I learn just as much, and since I can't make a living fixing people's cars anymore, so anytime I can lend a hand, or give advice. I will. Good luck, my friend.
I appreciate it. Will check back in in a few days. Weather should be nice enough to work comfortable outside this week

I installed both of my check valves using a brass drift and a light hammer. Rapid light taps moved it right in. Maybe 45 seconds of light tapping each. A hard hit would certainly cause damage so be careful and only use enough of a tap to watch it slowly move it to the block till it is flush. Worked for me. Not Mercedes approved procedure I am sure but it worked find. Again, gentle fast taps while watching it slowly move into place.

I’m basically on the verge of a rebuild of my front suspension. I replaced LCA last month with dealer parts and now I’m trying to do the uppers. I’m kinda stuck between Lemforder and the dealer. I know lemforder is oem but I been reading that their quality has gotten worse over the years. The lemforder brand already have the bushings pressed in on FCP but not the MB brand. It’s about $200 price difference not including the price to press in the bushings and if I go with dealer control arms, I still have to get a lemforder bushing for it because I can’t find a “MB” bushing online. For that to be the case, wouldn’t I just be better off getting the complete lemforder control arm with the bushings already installed?
