I have a 2019 S560 Coupe with broken engine. The current engine is an M176.980.

I'm thinking of putting the M177.980 engine in its place. Could do with a few pointers please.

1) Can I use the same engine ECU that I currently have? If so I assume it would need engine updated in VEDOC and ECU to be SCN coded for new AMG engine

2) They both use twin scoll turbos, so can I use my current exhaust?

3) Can I use my current cluster? If so does it need coding?

Any other things to look out for before embarking on this project?

You need AMG ECU wiped and programmed to your car.

You may also need the transmission out of AMG as well, they have different gear ratio internally... And that transmission computer needs to be wiped and programmed to your car.

You also going to need whatever various auxillary supporting mods that the AMG has, intercooler, larger intercooler pump, etc.

I'm not sure if there's anybody who can wipe and program FSB4 ECU and transmission....afaik nobody can do it yet. So if you want to get the AMG engine in, transfer over all the immobilizer modules from the other car. Cluster, ignition, airbag, assyst, door control module, front sam units, DSM, etc.

Be cheaper to just get a AMG car to begin with.

Thanks for the info. I found someone who can reset the FSB4 engine ECU. I'll try to get awy with just switching the engine (new engine is complete with charge air coolers etc). If I have problem with gear ratio etc then I'll put an AMG tranny in.

Engine ECU needs to be specially for M177 and besides that you will need lots of other ECU's. TCU (+hardware), CPC, body control etc. All be able to communicate with M177 engine and its ECU. Long story short, buy an S63
