M120 engine; where does this part go?

I got this part, #24 on the diagram below, p/n 120 158 01 73, that EPC says is a "Lock, lower part, left". I thought this is for the distributor cover on the left, but I can't figure out where is goes, or what it locks.

Here's a photo also.

There are apparently two different style distributors...

...as discussed not too long ago (please see the discussion starting from post #7 here: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w14...el-m120-engine-loss-power-4.html#post16054642 )

On my car, the distributor is enclosed in a housing that looks like this:

while the other design, as pictured in the attached file, has the housing going over the posts of the dizzy cap.

Which one do you have?

I do not recognize this "lock" and it is probably used on the other style cap (or has been lost on mine and I never knew about it).

Good luck,
Steve

They show the part number for the cover for the other style, but not for the lower part shown in your second photo.
The part diagram shows housing that is not even close to the design I have on my early-production coupe. I attached another picture, which I tried to enhance a little bit.
The close-up view is showing the bank 2 distributor and the housing (apologies for the dirt and grime -- this was how the car came to me some 2 years ago).
This should be the exact area where EPC puts the lock.
Notice the plastic going UNDER the whole dizzy cap. at least 3 inches wide, and compare with the schematic drawing.

BTW, my "locks" are metal tabs, but they go on the cover, not on the housing.

Thanks much to both of you. It looks like I will have to get it with my next order.

Out of curiosity Jon, how did you know that you need to purchase it -- did the old one break while you're undoing the distributor cap?
