Hey guys!

I'm working on getting the AMG back on the road and taking the time to hit all the details. I took the shaft out the throttle body to clean the bearings and assembly. There is (was..hahahaha) a seal that sits in the bore for the shaft between the butterfly and the bearings. Any ideas what the composition/size of these were? The existing ones are brittle toast :) I want to replace them to help prevent grit from getting sucked into the roller bearings so they may last another 25 years. Any help out there? They're not in the EPC.

Well I got the throttle body taken care of. I wound up replacing the destroyed seals with 2x9.8mm nitrile o-rings after cleaning out the bearings. These should do the trick to keep the bearing clean from the manifold suction. There's a slight bit of drag on the butterfly but I don't see it as an issue with all the return spring forces. Here's a shot of what was left of one seal and the 1x10mm seals I decided not to use :)

It looked like maybe that seal came with the bearing.

I was curious about the part # 000-012. Was that a vendor #? An AS568A-012 was 9.250 x 1.78. I wondered if a square seal would have fit better.

I think you're right Aspect. A square seal would be better and I might just try to source one. Last week was nuts and this week is more about me :) I'll dig around town to see what I can find.
