Most MB's of the period do monitor EGR via Airflow readings.

There was a very simple circuit that some guy designed to fool ECU when EGR was "open" it applied a resistance to the MAF reading, .................

You'll have to search, I'm pretty sure I saw it on Benzworld Forum somewhere, it was a CDI Engine he did it to .........................

Now that said, you may be able to switch off EGR Monitors using SDS Developer, first you have to unlock the Motor ECU, I have a document that explains exactly how to do that unlocking on your SDS, let me know if you want it .............. Note that it isn't a Virgin procedure, it unlocks the Motors Version Codings ;)

EGR gases AND oil mist from PCV
Good point (y)

I'm old skool, I don't like breathing my own farts so nor should my Engine :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: .................

That said I haven't disabled any of mine, would only do it if need arose ;)

Joe, pm me an EMail address and I'll EMail that file to you ;)

BTW, I don't think SDS turns the EGR function off, I think it just stops the fault monitoring, you would need to physically install a wee blocker plate on the back where the pipe is ;)

That said, I have never tried looking for an EGR Off in Developer, I just saw the Monitoring when looking at other monitors ;)

I'll bet that Oldsmobile never had Knock Sensors ;) The MB Knock Sensors allow it to run as advanced as can be for any given load, I know that from tuning the m113 in my SLK, also applies to other Engines / Management with Knock Sensors ;)

Would you mind explaining this a little more and how you came to this conclusion?
You know me Tiff, I can't resist a challenge, so here goes it ;) ......................................

I have when younger worked with Dyno's and top Tuners on both huge HP Marine and Vehicle Engines, Petrol and Diesels.
One of these guys was a personal friend of mine in the Waterskiing Club we frequented, (read lived at), he worked for a large UK firm who did work actually Datalogging, Mapping and improving Driveability of new models before they were released, his job was Worldwide, and his testing involved taking Pre Production Vehicles to Arctic, Cities, Deserts etc etc ;)

The whole idea of making HP is to cram as much Oxygen and Fuel in per combustion cycle, that is why Huffers, Turbos and Nitrous gas works so well ............................
= Bigger bang inside the Cylinder = More Power :D
Adding any other non combustible gas, i.e sh1t to the mixture results in a smaller BANG ;)

EGR is purely for a quenching effect, which improves emissions, it has no place on any Engine that we want max power from ;)
It is merely one way a mfr can use to achieve tighter wound emission standards to appease "Theresa Green" brigade, the mfr's were pushed into using EGR many many moons ago. EGR is now an old tech way of Emission reduction, but no one has re written the laws and standards, hence it is still fitted to modern vehicles ;)

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that all the media morons are now discussing CO2 as an un planet friendly Gas because most of them do not have a bloody clue wot they are talking about ??
Wakey Wakey huggers, Trees like CO2 it is Carbon MONOXIDE that humans animals and trees don't like ......................
Ermmm it isn't Vehicles that are the issue provided they are mapped right, but as usual I digress ;)

Now, if one breathes in enough of ones own Emissions, one also doesn't work to ones full potential due to a lack of Oxygen ;)
I like everything to work as efficiently as it can ;)

Sure, the Ignition Advance needs tailoring to the lack of farts in yer intake 🤣 but simply by telling most ECU's that the Engine has no EGR, (in MB parlance coding EGR as not fitted in SDS Developer), will allow the ECU to not rump up the advance because it thinks it is not breathing clean Air, in the same way we all have to retard the Ignition when our NOS is on.

Conclusion, (proven conclusion), lack of farts = MORE POWAH (providing the Engine is set up right) ;)

Anyone who thinks I am talking sh!te please show me where the EGR is on any NHRA Top Fueller :p

BTW Diesels have bigger advantages of EGR removal, because they actually coke up their Intake Ports, Manifolds etc as well as not running at their full potential ;)

BBTW, not all my vehicles have removed / blanked EGR, as was said earlier in this thread the MB EGR's seem to work very very well, more so referring to M112 / M113 Engines.

So there is my light hearted but factual explanation to EGRs and Farts :D :D :D

The driver. 🤣 🤣🤣
That is the funniest reply I've seen in years, I missed that trick in my write up ;)

It should have read .............

"please show me where the EGR is on any NHRA Top Fueller, excepting paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp :poop: :poop: :poop: goes the Drivers butt"

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
