Hopefully before too much longer my M110.989 will be distributor less and running on COP. The question remains. What is an ideal COP to fit this motor ??
The VAG 'red top' are more suited to vertical spark plugs. The M110 plugs have a lean.
Thanks
I am trying to stick with Bosch parts but the catalogue is difficult to use for a custom build.
My car is a W126 280SE M110.989.
What model was the M120 installed in ??
96-99 S600.
Again, no need to drive yourself crazy with trying to find Bosch only parts, as long as the specs are good. Output, mounting, length of the boot etc.
I actually worked that out about 5 minutes after asking but didn't want to look even more stupid!!
I doubt the M110.989 is suitable for COP conversion at all, much (though far from all) of their engine management comes by way of vacuum advance and retard lines on the distributor so to bypass the distributor altogether would mean a less controlled experience and one much less in line with what Mercedes intended the car to run like.
My advice is to keep it all as stock as possible to enjoy the driving characteristics as they were intended to be, as opposed to a patched together attempt at replicating it using different systems.
