The M102 engine has a very strong lower end ! ! !
The tapping on start up is normal, especailly w/ age b/c the lifters (tappets) are of the hydraulic type (the 16vlv uses mechanical). With the amount of miles/km on your car I would bet to say that if you have oil in the coolant or visa versa you have either a head gasket leak or a cracked block.[xx(]
