I have an '02 E55 with the support bladders in the seats. When I initially start the car the lumbar support inflates fully then slowly deflates.

Furthermore the controls for the supports don't seem to do anything anymore.

Anyone else have this issue?
Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help, this has been a great resource.

Sounds like the lumbar bladder might be leaking. Try asking your question on the W210 AMG forum. Nice car and good luck.

I think musicman has it, the PSE, pressurizes a reservoir, but it has a 60 second timeout. You probably have a leak, and I go and head into that direction.

I take it that this would mean removal of the bladder and replacement of a new one?
Any ideas how big of a deal that is, labor and cost wise?

Thanks again guys. Its nice to have this resource.

I would check the bladder by applying vacuum to it, you can start by removing the hose from the pump and capping it, replacing the bladder is a semi-major job. There is a tool called MITY VAC which draws a vacuum and a guage to see if it bleeds down.
