I just purchased a set of BBS wheels for my 1987
420SEL can anyone tell me if my car takes 12mm or
14mm bolts. Thanks

The wheels I bought are 15x7 with the same et as
my stock wheels, so no spacers needed.

Be very careful with the BBS wheels - they usually have a depper set centre piece (to give the deep dish effect). So although they have the same fofset as the stock MB wheels, they will usually require MUCH shorter shaft length on the bolts.

Stock MB wheels for the w126 require 12mm bolts with a 40mm shaft (length from radius seat to tip of shaft). These BBS wheels will probably require 12mm bolts with 30mm shaft.

For the reason detailed above, i.e. the centre pieces being deep set and no curvature (MB wheel centres curve outwards at the points where they mmet the rim to avoid contact with big calipers), you may require spacers to accomodate the brake calipers. I guess you should be fine as the w126 brakes aren't huge (as per r129 etc), but may be a possibility.
