Lowering and tire clearance question

I have an '06 CLK that I have had for a while and it is time for new tires. I have 255/40/17 on stock wheels on the rear now which is just a little wider than the 245's that I guess came on the car new. I am planning on lowering it with some Eibachs soon but it looks like the 255's might have some interference with the wheel well lip. Anyone have experience with this? Know if they will clear?

Thanks for any input.

I'd like to know if 255/35-18 front & 295/30-18 rears would fit . . .

Those are 255's in the rear & there is plenty of room with the lip rolled . . .

I plan on goin' with 265's on the rear next ?

Maybe even a wider 275 !
