Mine is a Euro 280 SL (107.042); 5 speed; no AC, with 225k km (140k miles). It seems low on power; my Peugeut 2008 with 150 hp feels much more peppy. Another comparison, my 1991 Buick Regal 3.8L with 185 hp was MUCH more peppy.
Parts changed out so far (not for this problem, just getting it in good running order)
Spark plugs, spark plug cables, timing chain and guides, fuel distributor (poor running).
Compression is within 10% of original, with 1 cylinder being just a bit below the others.
Is there anything else that might make it sluggish?

When I first bought my SLC it struggled to go any faster than 40mph when going up hills. I checked the timing and it was quite retarded, set it all up properly and now it flies up the hills.

Maybe check that?

With the 5 speed manual you should really have a lot of pep
