low oil pressure

My 1992 400E oil pressure gauge is wigging out. Shows full pressure for the first 15 minutes of running then drops to 0 psi at idle. But it is intermitent. The car runs and sounds fine, no lifter noise whatsoever. Can Anyone tell me exactly how to get to the Oil pressure sending unit and change it? Does the oil filter need to be removed? Thanx in advance.
