after 93 300 SE is driven more than 5 minutes. when rpms hit about 3000,oil pressure needle drops to zero, and red oil warning light illuminates. When i immediately release accelerator and rpms drop below 2000,oil pressure needle returns to normal, light turns off. oil/filter are new

What oil you using.. might be the oil is thin and rushing to the back of the pan or the pump head is dirty so cant get the demand it needs.. not a good situation to be in
so take it easy.. Hope this helps you..

low oil pressure light

15w/30. If its pump head, how do i repair it. Where is the oil pump? Do oil treatments work,or are they bogus?

maybe your gauge is faulty. mercedes said its ok if the oil is at 1/2 bar at idle but once the pedal is pressed it has to be 1 1/2 +

what oil did you use?

oil pressure

15w/30. It sort of acts like a bad gauge or bad signal to the gauge because it shuts off/on as if by a switch. The pressure goes up and down perfectly evenly but when the tach hits 3000 while accelerating its like an off switch is tripped. When i release throttle and tach drops to 2000,red light instantly shuts off and needle jumps to a normal level

never had problem before. It seemed to first arise when i was having a radiator problem which i resolved with a new thermostat. Does the 300SE have an oil cooler?if so, where is it?

I would check the wiring harness leading to the oil pressure and level sensors. The lower harnesses have problems with degredation and may intermittently short to each other or ground, causing eratic gage operation.
