Loud sound when door closes?

I was curious ... if anyone else out there was experiencing the same issue as I am when closing any of the doors on my 1998 ML320.

I visited the dealer's showroom. I noticed that on the newer model M-class, the sound the door makes after you close it is significantly softer than my 98 ML. Has the rubber seals around the doors changed between years? Is there an upgrade that I can purchase to reduce the sound? Please help.

Thanks

I believe there was an upgrade in the door seals. Do a search

for this (use the search button above).

A few things...there is an extra door seal for the '00+ models, there is more internal door insulation, and lastly there is a foam insulation pad behind the door panel.

So, you can get the extra seal, and adding dynamat to the inside of the door should give you most of the bank vault "clunk" effect [:)]
Does anyone have a link to a D.I.Y. retrofit procedure for installing the 2000+ door seals on a '99?
