'84 300sd (diesel, ATF, 215k mi.) sat parked for over a YEAR. Since driving it again (about 6-mos.), the car is running fine, EXCEPT it seems to be losing transmission fluid. Note: NOT when PARKED (no red puddle under the car), only when DRIVING (approx. 1 qt./300 mi.). Any educated guess as to the likely problem and solution? I appreciate your consideration and assistance.

Any red stuff in your coolant? Perhaps a rupture in the trans-cooler located in the radiator if none is on the transmission or underside of the car.

yes, check that! if so... coolant could be in the transmission also!!! but you would notice high level on the dip stick. Do you see any leaks!? maybe just a input or output seal... there not many places ATF can go sight unseen

Sounds like an issue with a seal in the transmission. As pressure in the trans rises under load it may be reaching a level sufficient to start blowing by a weak seal.
