Probably one of the best ones available is JR's. He's posted about it here. Look back a few days.

Recommend doing a little reading on this forum, or maybe a lot of reading, becuase it's seems pretty clear you haven't done much considering you gave no clue as to what you might be interested. It's been in production since 1979 so whose selling what is a pretty wide range... you wanna spend $4k or $90k? you want 98hp or 450hp? You want a vehicle with near no electronics you can push start or a vehicle you might need a teleaid re-boot to start if the electronics act up?

P.S. (Dutch did give you a pretty good tip, but still really depends what you want)

Highly recommended to purchase one from a "G" enthusiast like most people here. One that's been cared for and serviced. You will pay a little more but the gains are far outweighed. Someone once told me : "The most expensive Benz you will buy will be the cheapest one"
There is some truth there.

I see you are in California. That limits your selection considerably.
Well, that's if he's only interested in a 460 chassis.

Yeah, it sure cuts out most 460s.

Are all 463s eligible to be registered in California? Most of the 463s listed on Clubgwagen (pre-MBUSA) are also listed as "49 state".

All of the Europa imported G500's were CA certified. There are a few non Europa pre MBUSA G500's though so watch for those. The other 463 models are hit and miss for CA certifications just like the 460's. It was an extra expense to have them CA certified. The best advice is to move out of CA[:D]

FYI

My wife's Europa 99 SWB was CA certified. Go figure?!
Prior to '00 Europa cars were only CA certified at the customers request.

Are you sure? If you are, i wont dispute becuase i'm not totally sure, but i also thought i remember that from 98-00 europa had Small Volume Manufacturers status and as such they all came 50 states legal too keep things simple.

I am 99.9% sure that ALL of the Europa G500's are CA legal. I was at Europa prior to the EPA's final approval of the trucks. There must have been 40 new G500's sitting in Santa Fe. They were not released to buyers until the certification was complete and that meant 50 state legal. This applied to every V8 truck they sold with production dates starting in 1998.

Sasha,

The best places to look for the newer trucks would be e-bay and I think the mbusa website lists certified pre owned inventory on dealers lots. Autotrader might also be a good source.

I would suggest that you get the newest you can afford. Each year after 2002 seems to get better with regards to getting some of the electronic bugs worked out. See if you can check service records for any vehicle you consider. If it has been in the shop frequently it is something to avoid. There should be plenty of "good" 2003+ trucks to choose from. All of the new versions are very similar as well. Unless you need the 450hp supercharged version that started in '05 there is little to differentiate the trucks in this run.
