Well I was about to buy a c280 when the porter crashed it.

So I started looking around again. I really liked the 280 but I always loved CLK coupes and this one just came onto the market today. It's a 99 clk 320 with 97,929 miles on it. Is there anything special I should look for on it when I go check it out tomorrow? I checked the carfax and it seems fine, not as detailed as the other car unfortunately.

Anyway I've heard good things about this dealer and I got a better price than on the site. So again is there anything I will be looking to replace soon on it? Or anything I should look for now that could become a problem later?

Thanks for the help.

A few things bother me about the carfax. Mainly that it was a corporate leased vehicle and it was first serviced at 40k miles and it needed Instrument cluster replaced and Floor console replaced, as well as front brakes and rotors but no mention of rear.

I'd go for a 2000 with newer trim.
If you can find me one in chicago area with under 100k miles and for around 6 grand I'd be interested.

It needed or needs those items replaced? My advise is to take the car to a specialist for an inspection. Most people see a Mercedes-Benz and think it must be an expensive car. Your price point proves that is not always the case. They also think it cost a grand for an oil change. That isn't true either.

However, there are certain things that Joe the shade tree mechanic isn't qualified to mess with. It's things like electronics like ESP, ABS, etc that you should have looked at prior to handing over you hard earned money. Everything I've read points to that year being a solid car. I'd test every single switch or button. Also test the CD changer. Drive it at a higher speed and see if it shakes. Brake hard and see if it pulls to either side. Let it sit running for a while and see if it gets hot and then move it to see if it leaks anything.
