I hope I am in the right forum....I am looking at a 1991 300d (diesel) that has a slipping tranny...what model tranny came in these cars and there are any other trannys that can be substituted or what other cars came with the same tranny?

You might need to check the W123 or W124 sections, unless yours in a 300SD, not a 300D?

The 1991 300 D 124 chassis came with a 2.5 L 5 cylinder turbodiesel and a 722.418 4 speed automatic transmission. But as with most diesel MBs of the era the slipping may be only a vacuum issue:

More than likely no expensive repair or replacement is needed.

I've heard you can bolt on a chevy tranny to these cars is that true?
