Hi, I'm new to this so here it goes --- 2005 ML350 special edition--- I have a key fob that I changed the battery in because I thought it was dead; but it appears it is the car battery however cannot open the car doors to pull latch to unlock hood. Is there an alternate way to get in the SUV? The key hole on the drivers handle has a black cover over it, can that be removed? Any suggestions?

Remove plastic cover and unlock with key blade. When charging or replacing battery make sure key is out off the car.

If battery died with alarm in armed state, alarm will sound on powerup. Just turn key in ignition to position 2.

Thank you!! That did the trick! It's funny how I have opened that car door thousands of times over the past 15 years and never thought about the small cover on the handle until this happened. You are appreciated!

That little cover has a picture of a key on it if you look close enough.
