okay its dark, I'm cold and life has bit me in the........ I've sucessfully welded a hole under the car, I've disconnected the battery in the boot and closed the boot lid, thinking i can open it with the mechanical key...But the key won't go more than half way into the barrell!!!! perhaps half an old missing key is stuck in it! How do I reconnect the battery and open the boot with the remote switch in the door panel? Is there a way to gain access to the boot through the back seats to reconnect the negative lead? will the electric seats or parcel shelf move and give me access? I can open the bonnet so is there a positive 12v power input and negative for a spare battery to power up the cars electrics and central locking? I look froward to hearing from you. Thanks Andrew.

Its an S class 2001 5ltr Limo.

thanks for your suggestions, i lifted up the drivers carpet and screwed a small self tapping screw halfway into the heavy duty red power cable, taking care not to earth to the car body, this was easier than getting onto the alternator or starter motor both are very inaccessable. Then I used a bolt head in the engine compartment as a negative and with a spare battery I re installed the power to the car. The central locking came back and I could unlock the trunk and reconnect the battery. Screw out and a length of snap on insulation and I was good to go. Andrew Car (S500 2001.) I haven't seen any auxillary terminals under the bonnet and though I considered connecting in the fusebox it was not obvious which fuse to use and which side to connect to.
