Hi All- I have a '93 300ce cab and I'm trying to locate the vacuum pumps which are responsible for locking the seats during driving. Neither of my seats lock and I need to start somewhere! I've heard it's below Right REAR seat which needs to be removed for access. Is that correct? Just seems odd the pump for the front seats would be under the rear seats. If anyone has any experience fixing similar issues, your knowledge would be most welcome!

I have a coupe and the seats have a vacuum diaphragm that controls the lock. If the diaphragms are bad then the seats won't lock. You have to remove the rear panel to access. Don't know if both seats are on the same vacuum circuit.

Thanks for the reply! Have you removed the panels before or is there a link on this forum on how to remove the rear panels of the front seats? Did a quick check but didn't find one...

2 screws at the bottom.
then use blunt flat bladed screw driver and slowly work it loose from bottom to top. extremely tight fit and often stuck with gunk/adhesive.
slow process don't rush it and don;t force it otherwise plastic retaining strip will break.
there is a couple posts describing it on here or mbworld but probably under the topic how to fix seat headrest motor

EDIT:
This article on MBWORLD has some good pictures of the area etc
