Location of Flasher Relay - '83 240D

I want to replace my flasher relay on my 1983 240D so that I cna install LED bulbs without the very quick flashing common with burnt-out bulbs (the low wattage of LEDs are sensed as "burnt out").

Where is it and how many prongs ? Can a US electronic flasher fit ?

Thanks,

Alan

It's located under the shifter wood console. When you take it off, it's this black box right in front of the shifter.
Do you happen to knwo how many prongs it has ?

I would like to buy an electronic replacement before starting.

Also, how to pull up the console (I have a manual transmission if that makes a difference, I don't think it does) ?

Thanks,

Alan
Alan,

How did those LED dash lights work out?

Alan, if the wood console is the same as automatics, remove the ashtray. When the ashtray is out, on the spot where it came from you'll see two screws. Remove them and take the panel out, unplugging it on the left side (for the ashtray light & cig. lighter). Then pull/push back on the wooden console, lift from behind and it should be free. Other models I think have a different set up, so just be careful as there might be a tab in the wood that could break.

EDIT: You might have to remove the shift boot first before you pull the wood out. On automatics it just lifts free.
