Hey guys I was hoping some people here live around or know about good tire repair centers in Queens NYC? I need to change my tires and I was hoping someone knew a good place preferably around forest hills where the mechanics know what they are doing (the last thing I want is a bent frame...). Also if anyone has a good recommendation on all season tires for a 05 SL500 that would be greatly appreciated as well.

I checked the website for queens ny but couldn't find much. I was thinking maybe just the local sears or gas station mechanic shop or something along those lines. Thanks alot in advance you guys!

So here's my little rant
So I found out that my SL's tires were completely shredded (literally falling apart) when I leave work to get to my clinic... so after putting on the spare (which if anyone has used is awesome cause it enlarges after you pump it) I get there and I'm trying to make a call Sovereign Motors out in Brooklyn (because it was so highly recommended by a friend) who I had a great experience with for my break pads and services to ask about tires. Now I don't mind that they have certain hours, or that they don't have a loaner car, or that they might not have my tires in stock... those are all reasonable things. But the lady on the phone kept asking me for my tire ID, and honestly I don't know the exact ID by heart so I ask can't you just look up the standard 18 inch tires for my car? She keeps telling me no and that she would need more info then what I was giving her... I was like fine (that seemed reasonable at the time). I just limp my way home (because there was no way I could have made it) and what really steamed me was that 2 mins of looking at sears auto website I was able to find the exact model of my tires minus the w/y ratings and I was like really?! a Mercedes dealership doesn't have access to the tires used on their cars while sears does?

I found two tires on tirerack.com, a set of Michelin and Pirelli all season tires. I have a set of the Pirellis P Zero nero all season tires on my Acura for a year. We don't have much snow in NC, but they are very good in the rain and quiet, good handling. The Michelins look more like a snow tire, but I've seen them installed on SL's. The two tires rate very close, the Michelins's rate a little higher in handling, the Pirellis are a bit better in the snow. Neither tire will handle like a summer tire, so you will feel a difference, the side walls will not be as firm. Tire Rack also have recomended installers. Ironically, Sears in Elmhurst is a recomeneded installer. I worked as a tire installer in Sears, more years ago than I would want to count, they are good for most vehicles, but I personally would go to a specialty tire shop. They list Pace tire, they may be a better choice. Tire Rack has great customer service and I always buy my tires there and have the tires shipped directly to the installer. Being from NY myself, my best suggestion is to stand and watch the installer work on your car the entire time.
