We've had a pile of snow lately and my 82 300TD wagon just plows through it effortlessly. It appears to have a L.S. diff in it as both tires spin on ice. Can someone run my VIN to confirm? And if it doesn't I have a spare L.S. diff from a 1990 560SEL. Will it bolt in?
1982 300TD VIN: AB93A6CN005717

Thanks

It's very, very unlikely that you have an LSD on your wagon. I also believe that the diffs on w126 use different mounting points.

No w123's diesel wagons came with LSD. You can swap a gen I w126 2.47 diff into it if you turn the mounts upside down, but the LSD versions appear much too large to fit.

GEN II w126's have different mounts for the diff. Also its an abs diff.
What's a "abs diff" ???

^just looked up and it shows a sensor at the differential so yeah the differentials are different.
edit: the diagram also shows only one senor for the front wheels? Shouldn't both wheels have sensors on them? Or is the w123 abs so antique that it only has 2 sensors, one sensor on the passenger side front wheel and the rear differential?

The W123 ABS system has two sensors at both front wheels and one at the differential.
