Hello

I justpersonally replaced the battery on a 95 s320 that i am selling. After i hooked the new battery up, THE ABS, ETC warning lights are on now. Also, i speedometer stopped working, and the lights in the cluster are off. All this were not on until i replaced the dead battery with a new one.

Does anyone know how to reset the ABS, ETC lights, and have the speedometer and cluster lights function properly again ??? Help !!!

Could this be a fuse problem? I disconnected the battery on mine and did not have to reset anything.

If your ABS/ASR/ESP etc lights are lit then do the following:

turn your steering wheel lock-to-lock (all the way to one side, then all the way to the other) two or three times . You will notice each of the lights turning off as you do that. As far as your instruments not being illuminated, see if there's any light at night. And perhaps use the illumination adjustment button on your instrument clusteR?

RE: Lights.....speedometer

The illumination is fine in cluster.

The ABS and ETC lights are still on ! And speedometer and odometer are still not working!

I called couple of benz service shops, and they suggested i try turning the steering wheel left and right. I tried that, several times, but nothing happened. (unless i am doing something wrong, which i doubt it).

I strongly believe it has to do something with the battery or voltage, because there was no abs, etc, speedometer, odometer problem before that....

Does anyone have had the (abs, etc, speedometer, odometer..battery) issues before, or have any idea what to do???!!!!

solved..............fixed !!!

After doing several searched through mercedes forums i managed to fix it.

I got a little worried, when i read some posts mentioning that i might have fried my odometer speedometer assembly, or i need a new computer unit.and that the only way to solve it even if its caliberation was to take it to the dealer.like some of the posters did...and that i had to pay the dealer lots $$$$ to fix or at least diagnose the issue...

Someone mentioned to look under the hood in a rectangler box (that says "battery in the back")near the passenger side windshield. I thought i checked all areas where fuses existed (In the trunk and under the hood). Turns out...that big rectangler box has 2 (10) unit fuses among some other items. One of the fuses was bad. When i replaced it ...

...it Fixed the ABS and ETS light, along with the odometer and speedometer issue....woooooooooooof :)
