Has any one installed LED lights in place of the H7 halogen bulbs and not have the warning light for the light? I want to use the LED lights and would like to know if there is a product out there that does not throw the code. Have read the threads on the LEDS and am aware or the varous opinions on installing LEDS in projector housings, but really would like to hear from someone who has actually installed LEDS without getting the warning and buying that brand. TIA

I’m on my second set of LED bulbs that performed well with W211 H7 projector units, both optically and error free. It took some trial and error though, before I found the first set I was happy with. That first set burnt out after 3 years so, don’t believe the 50,000 hours hype.

I’ve been experimenting with various LED and HID setups, as a replacement/improvement over halogen bulbs, for about 10 years or so. On multiple cars and different headlight units.

I would prefer optical properties of the HID bulbs over LED still but, wiring is a mess. LEDs, OTOH, have come a long way… to the point that I’m not looking back anymore.

Anyway, I’m currently using these in W211 halogen projectors. Early days as I just got them in, I have no idea how long they will last. They are bright and white, beam pattern is good, no Canbus/error issues. No external driver compact design. I’m happy with them so far.

THANK YOU! After parsing the online reviews and manufacturers descriptions to remove touts and general BS, the AUXITO was one of the LEDS on my short list. Will order a set and try them in my high beams. Will let alcon know my results. Again - thanks.

With the low beam, no. They are aiming at the downward angle so the cut-off line is the same, LEDs are just much brighter. With the high beam, aim is straight forward so yes more light intensity would mean farther reach than halogen bulb.

I’m not sure how they compare with bi-xenon Hi beam. Possibly my LED is brighter because it comes of the reflector. Xenon bulb passes through the lens of the projector, so there is some light fall-off. But that’s just the theory… I have no way to verify that.

@Photodude Just installed the AUXITO LEDs in my high beams and they DO NOT WORK! They will turn on for about 1/2 second and then turn off - will not remain lit. Mine is a 2009 E350 4-matic - is yours the 2004 oil burner? My guess is that DOT got involved after yours was built and mandated that only H7 halogens of a certain wattage could be used for "our own protection". The initial power curve of a halogen bulb and LED are very different and the difference can easily be detected by the computer controlling the lights. Will give the LEDs a shot in the low beams and if they do not work, Amazon will be getting them back. Don't you just love the Nanny state!

That is strange. My W211 is 2004, definitely not the “oil burner” though…

Are you turning the lights on with the engine running? Is your light switch in Auto or manual ON? Is your battery in top condition?

My LED lights would flicker on/off when I let the battery voltage drop, with the engine off. As soon as I start the engine and the voltage goes up, lights come on and stay on.

Before you return them can you run current consumption test on the bench?
I just bought them and they draw 1.25 amp on battery power. I also have different LED, with big fan and resistor, who draw 2.5 amp, but don't give much light, so I am waiting till tonight to compare Auxito.

....
LED is more efficient technology in producing the light, but the reach depends on wattage.
I bought LED, who are "rated" at 70W, yet they produce white light, but the range is either the same, or lower than old halogens.

Actually is not that straight forward when it comes to LED bulbs. LED chips are evolving fast and are getting more and more efficient at producing more Lumens per Watt. In general LED power in watts is kind of irrelevant. LED bulbs are rated in Lumens but even that is measured by very loose standards. Then you have the optics of the chip placement, which affect the final output, especially in automotive headlight fixtures.

I used to take my incident light meter and measure the actual light intensity/brightness in front of the headlights to test different LED and HID bulbs. This is the only objective test for me.

I’m not sure if these super high power LED bulbs, that are “rated” at 50-60 Watts, are actually using 50-60 Watts to power LED chips. Or add resistors to fool SAM/Canbus to stay within halogen power range. It makes no difference really either way.

So here is comparison.
On this picture I have OE H7 bulb on right side and KATANA 16,000 LM LED on left side. When LED is bright white, they don't seem to have much difference in light output.

Here is the same 16k LED on the left and Auxito rated at 27,000 LM on the right and Auxito gives much nicer street illumination.
What I noticed on those pictures is that the 16k LED seem to loose the power and intensity over the time,
Thanks whoever gave Auxito recommendations.
No errors, although Auxito had too thick filament and I had to shave it a bit to make OE holder fit.

@Gumpy

I had serious issues with my 07 E350 headlights so changed the entire assembly to an LED Assembly (high/low beams) and although it was a pain to do, the lights look great and work fiine; although, they do need to be adjusted upwards.

In short mate, the LED option is far better than any other options in so far as brightness and lighting distance is concerned.

My LED's:

Is anyone else having trouble seeing the photo attachments to wombat457's above post? I cannot see them, and I've tried both Firefox and Chromium.
