My '99 has Napa Ash (238A) color interior (white ext-black canvas top).

I have been looking for a way to spot repair the fininsh on the left driver seat bolster. The previous owner was tall, and getting in and out can wear this part.

Anyone found a product that works well and color matched reasonably well?

that area is under constant scuffing, patch repair will not last unfortunaly... your best bet is leather replacement...

good news is the job is moderately easy...

Bayahs,

Do you have a link to how to remove the bolster? I haven't seen one on this site..

Great link. Thanks !

Additional-On the '99, the front (lower cushion) fastners are hex bolts. Also, the seat back can be removed without removing the bottom first. They aren't swappable L to R.

I have used an outfit called FibreNew on 2 of my cars. The results have been great and the price was reasonable. They are independent franchise operations, so your mileage may vary.

Maybe just yank the cushion off and run it to an upholstery shop. I'd bet for $ 75 bucks they could sew in a matched piece of leather and it would be good to go. someone did some type of a repair job on that same area in my 600. I specifically looked at that area closely prior to buying the car, and it looked perfect. But climbing in and out a few dozen times and it started to go to hell. My plan is to just replace both sides this winter. 20 year old seats just dont feel as supple as new leather. And at 800 bucks it's totally worth it !

Took the cushion (back) off last night-2 minute job. Color Plus deesn't have the 238 code, so I think I will try Leatherworld's dye colorant. I can test it on the back edges of the seat back first.

Just for info, I took my rear cushion to a specialist upholsterer here in UK and the worn panel was replaced with MB original spec leather and double stitching for £100. Not cheap I know but it's totally invisible and will probably outlast me. It took a couple of hours. Cheers Steve

I live in the sticks (the name you guys should have given to Virginia). My chicken feed store is 5 miles south, and the closest MBZ dealer is 50 miles north. I would have to venture up that way for competent leather repair also.

I just put it back together, and decided to flush the brake lines instead !!

Thanks for the tip though, I'll look into the cost of doing the same here.
