Just recently I bought a set of new windscreen wipers for the old 1977 merc.

Found out that Germany parts production for this particular line is no longer operating. I know for surely I
bought the second last set that will fit a late 70s classic.

There may be one more set left. Cost is 400 dollars, two per set.

Otherwise maybe a parts company in the USA or CHINA could be in the market to design and make new wipers.

Better to have German made for a Mercedes in my opinion.

Good luck with wipers. :)

Good Gawd, are you talking the wipers themselves, or replacement rubber blades? I paid $6 per side at Walmart yesterday for mine, and the metal assemblies are a dime a dozen at a pickapart yard. For $400, you can send them away to get rechromed, AND get money back.

Ok then, these are Bosch blades with Bosch assembly. I bought here in Australia a set of cheap REPCO replacements and they eventually wear and scratch your windscreen. The originals cost so much because they have run out of stock, I already mentioned this.

I have tried three different types and they are all shit compared with these.

I tried BURSONS, REPCO and a cheap BOSCH type that any MECHANIC who knows about Mercedes will tell you that the ones from these stores are cheaps, only the originals with the metal strips inside are worth it.

Only maybe some FORD type blades will fit the original Bosch wipers, thats also the metal strip which makes it last longer, and they are about $10 - 20 US.

Original metal strips that you will not find at cheap bargain bins brand new will cost about $30 - 40 US each.

I have done a bit of research on this, there is nothing worse for a classic car than a set of wipers that scratch and screech when they are used.

Hi, I'm not entirely clear on this, is it the entire arm all the way down to the knurled post that they affix to on the bulkhead or is this just the blades with the chrome backing structure that fits onto the arms?

Also, is it true "chrome" as most I've seen lately, even costly ones, are more of a satin finish, not as shiny as polished chrome. Luckily mine are still in good shape so I just pop in a set of blades with the metal insert, cost me about $40. You're right that if you want show quality original, this is likely the only avenue to achieve that without re-chroming and rebuilding an original set.

This includes the entirety of the wiper kit.
The Arm, the blades and the inserts.

It will come in two packages. A box for the wiper blade with insert attached and a plastic slip for the arm itself.

Obviously there are two of them.

I have compared these and although I would agree they
are highly priced, these are much more reliable than anything else available.

especially compared with discount auto stores and junkyards.
