I was cruising south on I95 between Baltimore and Wash DC when the V1 lasar alarm went off. There was a trooper in the median. Luckily I was off the gas. Unlike radar, I didn't pick up any alarm before I was targeted by the trooper, or after I had passed him. Anybody else picked up a real lasar signal yet? It may be time to invest in a lasar jammer after all.

There is NO protection versus laser. You have to hope that they shoot the person in front of you.
The laser detectors detect the dispersed laser light from the beam as it hits the car (hopefully in front of you).
That's why its best never to be the car in the lead! Always trail a faster car if possible.

I told you Rich ...

... it may pay to spend a couple hundred bucks to have the alleged protection. 'E' has one in Canada (along with his V1), and swears it has saved his hide dozens of times, and is worth every cent (do they have cents in Canada ... pun intended! ... no offense 'E' my friend).
I still haven't ordered the Laser Jammer I have decided on ... I don't know what I'm waiting for, but just haven't gotten around to it yet.
I'm sure they have laser somewhere here in Florida, just haven't heard stories of people getting tickets with them yet.
BTW: Our State Troopers have radar guns on their front dash, AND on the rear window deck lid ... most people see the Trooper in the median with the front of his car pointed towards oncoming traffic, and blast by him ... needless to say they are quite surprised when the Trooper spins around and lights them up!

It had a front and rear facing antenna. In the car there is a joystick so that you can switch between them. You can get a car coming, then going, cars traveling in the same direction or in the opposite direction.
what is the laser jammer website?

laser jammer feedback

From all sources here, laser jammers do work quite well and I have had two times where I believe it had definitely saved me.
Worth every CDN$0.01 = US$0.0065?
Other than the laser jammer, the next best thing will be to go for one of those radio scanners to combat the instant-ons as well as aircrafts..

E, what jammer do you have?

I have a beartracker E, and it isn't worth the money. There are too many police within 3 miles of everywhere on the I95 corridor. With the squelch up it alarms all the time, with the squelch down it doesn't alarm at all. It is useful in rural areas though. The only ticket I have gotten on my '96 911 (88000 high speed miles, and counting) is the first trip I made after I purchased the beartracker. It didn't even alarm as the Md. trooper ran my plates after he pulled me over. (I had the squelch down to keep it from constantly alarming) The most use it has in a populated area is to scan the CB channels to hear what the truckers have spotted.

K40 laser jammer

Thanks for the useful feedback on the beartracker Rich, I have the K40 laser jammer. It comes integrated in an ugly, thick, highly visible, easily damaged front plate frame. What I did was I got someone to take the frame apart and installed the jammer under my front plate. The part that jams the laser is only half an inch tall two inches wide. No one will notice it even if they stare at your front plate.
I'll take a picture and email you if you're interested.

How's the V1...

Rich, do you like the V1 better than the 'other' detectors? How's your set-up? Do you have the wiring hidden or do you just plug into the cig-lighter? I'm thinking of purchasing another detector and would like some ideas. I had Whistler, not all that good. Thanks.

I'm thinking of purchasing another detector and would like some ideas. I had Whistler, not all that good. Thanks.
The V1 is awesome. I have been using one since 1995 (125,000 miles in ultra high performance cars). I used to use the top BEL units which are good, but only last 12-18 months. Since using the V1 I have only one ticket (I had the volume turned down and missed the alarm!)I have it set on the dash with velcro. This decreases the range, but it is hard see from the outside. I recently purchased another one and got the remote display. I also mount that with velcro. In the E55 I have it in the ashtray, in the 993 it is on the dash. Last night I picked up a stationary trap 1.2 miles away with the unit on the dash. After sundown I mount the unit on the windshield with the suction cups, which increases the range. (I live in VA where these are illegal).

Re: How's the V1...

The Valentine 1 is the best you can buy. I have mine mounted with suction cups just above the dash. Supposedly that's where the 'non-coated' section of the windshield is specifically for this purpose.
I had a whistler which realled sucked. After getting my first speeding ticket in 5 years with the damn thing on, I broke the damn think in a fit of peak. beep. beep. beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep. dead. No warning whatsoever.
My V1 gets cops from over a mile away. (and unfortunately ever supermarket door in the county).
I absolutely love mine and would never replace it.

Re: How's the V1...

I mounted mine on the visor, hardwired with the remote display in the sunglasses compartment.
Instead of clipping it on the side of the visor close to my head, I have it mounted on the other side of the visor, the side closer to the windshield. This way, even if I get into an accident, it's unlikely it will ever hit me and it's less visible from the outside.
