I have a 97 E420/Renntech E60 and am looking to upgrade the brakes. Does anyone know if some of the newer mercedes brakes will directly bolt on the 210 chasis. It seems that Mercedes has put a lot more emphasis on brakes on their newer cars, and lots of them have 6/4 pot calipers. Or what about 210 E55 brakes, will they bolt on my E420 and how good or bad are they as an upgrade. I have checked with Brembo and Renntech and it seems for now that these options are way out of my price range.

I could be wrong but thought that the AMGs came with Brembos. Try calling AutohausAz to price some E50 or E55 parts and they should know if they are a direct fit.

your hubs/knuckles are the same as E55 (W210 of course) you could bolt up the AMG calipers and put on the proper sized rotors to match but..... things to consider - brake booster/master cylinder same size? ABS program? brake bias/proportioning different for E55 brakes? The stock brakes are adequate for the E420, you would be surprised how well they stand up to hard usage! be sure to use Textar pads as they are high friction as well as an OEM supplier to MBZ.

Thanks for the reply....My E420 has a 435HP Renntech 6.0 motor. I would consider the stock E55 brakes if they are a direct bolt on. Also does anyone no the rotor size on a E55 vs E420.

Have you checked what front brakes and brake lines are in your car now ?

Most of the Renntech conversions, even your year, brake lines and front calipers were "upgraded" - how do you know your front brakes are stock ?

I am assuming the brakes are stock based on their physical size, comparing them with my 01 E430. Also I have seen pictures of the upgraded Renntech brakes on the 210 and they are much larger than what I have. I do not have a build sheet, as I am not the 1st owner and Renntech is not the most helpful company in this situation. I did receive a quote from Renntech for front and rear brakes and it was over 11K

You mentioned that Renntech would not co-operate when you were still considering the car. Now that you own it, they still won't share that info with you? What are the odds of contacting the previous owner?

$11,000+ wowser! No wonder you are looking for less expensive alternatives. I hope the E55 parts will work out.

I am not certain, and someone correct me if I am wrong, but the E55 rear calipers are the same rear calipers as any W210?
