It’s funny how the show made it look like Mike just popped in. In person. From Cali. To Oregon.
Great episode nonetheless.
Like...he actually drove from Southern California to Oregon for cylinders...

Those cylinders are a cinch to remove compared to the R129! And who but Saab would put the ignition switch in the console and not the steering column? I guess all the piano covering the dialogue was because of not playing it on the designated channels.

I had always heard that Klaus used a better material than the factory for longer life - but didn't know his rebuilds were capable of much higher pressure!

Sorry, I meant labor. hehe
It’s OK. Most of us speak Brit too 😁

if you want some useless trivia do you know how we got rid of most of our u’s in the ou’s?

Noah Webster.

when he was making a dictionary in the early 1800s he felt American English should be distinguished from British English.

Was Noah an expert in phonetics?

So, now inside not quite every American is a Brit trying to get out. haha :D

When I was in Germany I could speak passable German but by no means fluent. But I was surprised to learn that there were 300 different dialects in Germany and The Bavarians can hardly understand the northerners.

then I learned in Britain there are 300 different dialects and I’ll bet it is the same.

years ago there was a series on English and how it came to be around the world.

and I was surprised to learn that pigeon English, spoken in new guinea I believe, is courtesy of the royal navy

It came about because of Seaman from various nationalities and languages brought together with English as a medium

I was surprised when visiting Australia there are no regional accents

Someone from Darwin talks exactly like someone from Adelaide

I’m originally from Poland and it’s the same. The guys from Gdańsk have a VERY different dialect from the guys in Zakopane. And let’s not talk about the Kaszubi guys on the peninsula.

Even in the US, look at the bayou in Louisiana compared to the Yuupers in the Michigan UP.
