I am posting this after an exhaustive search on r129 transmission kick down cable leak.
Went for an oil change ,,paid USD 250 for Mobile 1 gold 8qt new air filter and oil filter OEM.
When the car was raised I noticed oil leak at the edge of the trannie oil pan. In October I had new mission mount, filter and gasket replaced.
My mech says oil leak is from the kick down cable,, did I kick down too hard when I kicked z350s butt? Gee,,
KIndly share,, why it happens ,, how to prevent it ,, what is involved to fix this.
Mission oil level is fine.

Make sure it was a Mercedes mechanic. Don't quote me on this but the last time that I had a problem with a kickdown, it was the round switch under my gas pedal though it was on a w126.

Joe, Check out this thread - http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r129-sl-class/1294408-722-6-transmission-leak.html#post2149752 - I think you'll find this plug is the source of your leak. An easy :30 job and USD 14.00 for parts. Best regards.
Thanks boydm,
However, the place I am leaking is at the back,, a piece attached to a straight thin pipe. Looking towards the front of car, the leak would be on top of the left corner of mission oil pan. The part sits above the exhaust, where they bends in and clamped together.
Hmmm ,, need to find out what that is.

I will try to post the pics.

boydm,
Please take a look at this picture and advise if this is the same part you have mentioned. The plug thing on the left of the big bolt,, looking from back of the transmission. It is plugged into the trannie body and has oil leaking from where they meet. Ever so slight.

Any one know the part number for this?
Thanks in advance.

Found out the name of the part. It is called Kickdown Solenoid Valve with O rings. It is a part of the transmissiom harness but my part guy feels just the O ring can be replaced, based on 95 EPC. He is checking further for the 97 model.

It is not a kick down cable,,,
It controls and releases transmission from P to other position.
Made of cheap plastic,, the part that touches the transmission was leakiing.
Repair cost ,,
Parts USD 20
Labour USD 50
Oil USD 100 for 6 quarts.
