So seeing as how these new 'laser' keys are so expensive... is there some sort of case/holder for them? I ask because my dog seems to always find mine sitting on the table and now the panic button is runined and keeps setting the car alarm off. I'm about to have to start using my spare, and want to protect this one.. like a little hard case, or leather of some sort ? I just didnt know if one already existed - thanks for the info.

dropping the key isnt going to do any harm, but the dog will lol. Why dont you just put your key somewhere high, maybe on top of the fridge.

It's not on the website, but the MB "collection" catalog used to have a key case that had a pouch on the back of it that was meant to hold the Smartkey. Your dealer might sell it. Can't hurt to check.

How about this for an idea? YOu can buy a replacement key of EbAY cheap as hell, as long as the outer housing is good. The Remove your batery cover, and the logicboard from you old key will slide right out
( with a little force ).Slip your logic board in the new key housing, replace the battery's and Voila!! Replaced key...

I found this out when I had to repair one of the SMT chips on my key that had fallen off and the dealer wanted me to buy a brand new key. NOT!! it's been working great every since.

The secret here is, most folks only have cosmetic damages to their keys. If the circuit board is intact, and you have minimal skills, you can buy ANY MB Class type key from 25 bucks on Ebay, and swap your card. I've done this same thing also with my Acura key.

Good Luck...

Most dealerships have a bunch of bad keys laying around. Ask your Service Advisor to give you the case from one.
