It seems that the RF transmitter in your remote that controls the door locks is toast. You don't need that (or good batteries) to work to start the car.

How about the fuel filler flap - is that unlocked?

Please fill in your profile with User CP at the top of the page ^^^ as your model/year/location often helps with replies.

Unless it's something simple like a loose battery contact on the fob's circuit board that could be soldered back in place, then no, there is no repair procedure. Since the key works to start the car, just keep it as an "emergency" spare. You can still use the hard key to unlock the door.

BTW, you might get a better price on the key if you order it directly at the parts counter instead of dealing with a service advisor. Sometimes you can talk the parts guys into a discount, especially if you are a frequent customer. Also, if you have a friend who works for another dealership, sometimes they will extend a courtesy discount. The parts guys are not on commission like the SA's so they are more likely to help out on prices.

Pull the key apart and use an eraser to clean the contacts on the PCB, that is sometimes the issue.

$250 is a pretty good price for the new chrome key, btw.

Good luck.

He means to use a pencil eraser. This is a common way to clean electrical contacts. The eraser is easy to hold and just slightly abrasive enough to clean oxidation and dirt from metal.

Send me your broken key, I can make you a working chrome key from it.

ok nice.. but i bought a new one ! so the old is actually most a spare now.
but if i should think of getting it fixed.. how much do you take for it...

1) for chrome and repair
2) just repair

Exactly, I meant to fix up your old one for spare.
Not sure if I can "just repair" it, I'll have to open it up and take a look. If I can repair, it is $43.
Chrome key and conversion of your old key is a sure thing, $103.
Shipping included.
