My key fob wil not open or close doors

I assume you mean the remote isn't working to unlock or lock the doors. Have you tried replacing the battery in the key fob?

In case (???) your car has the early infrared (IR) keyfob, see attached instruction (over the 12 year production run R129 had several different remote locking systems).

What year is your car? and which fob does it have? the one button IR or the later Fob? And have you followed the procedure in the manual to resync the fob? and if that didn't work did you try replacing the battery then doing a resync? Did the fob quit working or is this the first time you've used it?

Terribly sorry to interfere here now but this is the closest topic I have found in any regard to the older one button key fobs, but my 97 e320 does not have key cyl/column in doors and trunk does have but is seized/rusted solid so have been looking for more info on fobs.

Pressing button for about 1 second led in ir lens flashes, good after cleaning terminals inside fob for batteries, 2x 2025 3v
holding at just the right angle not at handle, on either front door, does lock/unlock doors, good, kinda...
doing at appearing lens next to trunk lock cyl, does nothing

And wanted to know if anyone had knowledge or a similar page with instructions for my kind of fob for trunk, or panic, or any other options that may be had in this old of a unit. haha
