Key fobs: Does the red 🔺 or ⭕️ make a difference?

656 Views 8 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  93SoCal400E
I have a 2009 C300 I’m selling with a single worn key fob. I ordered a newer fob on eBay but the internals are different. Mine has a round red panic button, the new one has a red triangle.

I can’t swap the chip like I thought I could, so I’m wondering if I can code the triangle key to my car since the hard key fits in it perfectly. Does anyone know what the difference is between the two styles?

No, key is completely different. You can't swap. Internals different.

Sell the car and be done with it.
Only specific ones can be reprogrammed, and you need specialty tools and tons of experience.

Not something an average joe can do in 1 hour with youtube guides.
You are mixing words. I was very clear on what I said....I meant exactly what I said.

Only specific keys can be REPROGRAMMED.

Point is, you're not going to be able to do it unless you have a few grand lying around to purchase the tools necessary to do this.
