Key fobs: Does the red 🔺 or ⭕️ make a difference?

657 Views 8 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  93SoCal400E
I have a 2009 C300 I’m selling with a single worn key fob. I ordered a newer fob on eBay but the internals are different. Mine has a round red panic button, the new one has a red triangle.

I can’t swap the chip like I thought I could, so I’m wondering if I can code the triangle key to my car since the hard key fits in it perfectly. Does anyone know what the difference is between the two styles?

Thanks, I fixed it. I added the C-class but I’m not keeping it.
Can a key be programmed to any model or are they model specific?

I’ve seen so many models with the same fob, it looks like you can use almost any of them.
Only specific ones can be reprogrammed…
What do you mean by that? Every Mercedes key must be programmed or it won’t work. Nobody reprograms a key fob, they just code it to the ignition module.
