Has anyone had any problems with the battery on the key fob only lasting about a week? We can put a new battery in it and it works fine for about a week. I have taken it apart to see if it could be keeping the button pushed but found no evidence of this. And I would think it the button was pushed all the time it would not work again after the first time. ?????

Thanks for this forum.

Bumping this thread up.

The IR on the single button Key Fob from my 92' won't shut off, it's causing my key batteries to drain fairly quickly.

Has anyone had this problem? I've stripped the key apart, cleaned every bit of it. Still the same problem. The button clicks and seems to work sometimes, so I don't think it's stuck - but what do I know.

Thanks in advance!

here is a case where ebay is your friend. At one time on ebay there were vendors, and still may be vendors that sold the push button switch that solders to the ecb on the switchblade fob. A fix for those that had defective switches. It's possible your switch, while it clicks, has failed in the closed position. Also before you buy a replacement, look carefully at the solder joints on the switch, occasionally there are cold solder joints on that board.

Take it apart and see if anything is shorting.
I just did mine after forgetting it in my pants and it went to the wash.
After drying the whole thing, I noticed that the metal contacts against the battery had shifted and were not allowing contact. In your case it could be that they can be touching each other depending on the position of the key; hence shorting the battery. I noticed that it's easy for that scenario to happen.
