Good morning all, I have been having this problem with my 06 Ml350, sometimes I have to try up to 10 times before the key turns in the ignition and starts finely. Sometimes i turn the key all the way to the end and nothing happens, after trying for a couple of times, the car would suprisngly start. The one that annoys me the most is when the key doesn't turn in the ignition, it acts like I inserted the wrong key, sometimes I have to turn the key the other way before it turns and starts fine. After a while the side that was working perfectly would start having the same issue and the other side will begin to work again. since this problem started, I have changed the Aux battery, Alternator, rear Sam, car key, fuel pump, but the issue still keeps coming back after it works for a while. Please I would appreciate if any of you can help me. I hate having to battle with my car key/ ignition for minutes evertyime I want to drive the car, and sometimes I end up not being able to use it. Thanks a lot

What side that was working??????????????????????

Do you have KeylessGo?

Did you have the car scanned for codes?
Yes I had the car scanned for codes. I don't have keyless go. On the first occasion the technician said water got into the rear sam and I had to get a new sam, on the second occasion the key didn't turn in the ignition at all, the technician read the key and said the key was dead, I had to get a new one.
Can low engine oil in the car cause this problem? Or using a small car battery? Thanks

You never answered the question about WHAT SIDE.

What were the code numbers? Make a copy of the dealer bill and hide your personal info and post it here.

What does using a small car battery mean?

Sorry, I meant if I turn the key the other way, I normally use the front but sometimes when the key doesn't turn, I turn the back and it works.

I don't have any knowledge on the codes, and I don't have the bill anymore.
By small battery I mean, 75amp

Under voltage or over voltage can cause multiple problems. That's why I asked you for the code numbers.

Post your full vin# and I will tell you what the proper battery should be.

Okay. 4JGBB86E56A033501. While trying to get the vin# from the car now I inserted the car key and it didn't turn, rather the alarm came on for a while, I got out of the car and the remote didn't work also, I had to leave the lock open, after a short while I tried and the remote worked.

You may have already seen this post regarding a similar problem:
https://mbworld.org/forums/m-class-...othing-happens-other-electrical-grimlims.html

Be sure to read from the beginning.

My fix (posts 39, 40) did not require any soldering, only a bit of cleaning. You may want to try that fix and see if it helps.
Thanks for your reply, I just saw the post. But what if my key doesn't turn in the ignition at all, and if I try again the alarm comes on? Can I be having the same problem too?

Good morning, I disconnected my car battery and connected it back and the car started. The Cd was playing but i wasn't getting any sound, after driving for a while the speaker just started working, but without the Amplifier; the sound quality was poor. So I removed the battery and tried the new bigger battery I got yesterday and the car started too and the cd/amp worked fine.
I tried to start the car again after about 8 hours, the key turned with just one try but the car didn't start, the cd was playing but no sound, the dashboard lights were on, I removed the car key and tried again, this time it didn't turn at all even after many tries, after a while the car alarm came on, while battling to put the alarm out i inserted the key again and the car started, I was able to move, still with the sound out, I turned off the car, left the key in "on" position and started again, the car started and turned off automatically immediately, please I need help, I am really confused and so is my technician, has anyone had similar issues? This is really embarrassing. On several occassions I've deprived innocent persons from using their cars because my car refused to start and give way for theirs. Most times I take the car out I don't make it back home with it, because the car refused to start.
