Thinking of tossing a K&N Air Filter(s?) in the car, was wondering if anyone's had this done and if so, any improvements in anything or is it just a pointless mod. I had 'em on my last cars, and the main improvement was not having to ever have it replaced. Not sure if MB makes a good Air Filter from the Factory though.

I put the K&N filters on my S600 and it improved my milage 2 mpg ..
I average 21 mpg now and it was 19.. at times I see 23 for a 50 to 100 mile trip..but I live in flat country here in Iowa..

I went to Autozone today and they said they didn't make them for the car and/or I had to order straight from K&N. Anyone know a good place to get one of these things? I'm assuming if Autozone doesn't have it, perhaps I have to go to a Performance Shop....

I would think Performance Products would be a good choice to find it.

When you are dropping in a K&N, remember that you won't really get full benefit unless you also open up your exhaust. Think of the engine as a big air pump. More air in quicker, more air out quicker. It will help but it will be incremental.

On a 93 500E I improved mileage by about 3.5MPG with Cold Air Induction and a Borla exhaust system. Since I had to replace the exhaust system anyway it was not a "replace for savings" type R&R.

Yeah, I know, I reaaalllly want an exhaust on my car, but I'm assuming they're pricey (haven't looked into it yet), and when I do choose to sell the car, whenever that may be, I'm assuming it'll make it alot harder to sell (considering I don't put back the stock exhaust), of course who's buying it would make all the difference

Take a look on Ebay, there's a guy from NY that has the K&Ns for about $38 each, that's what I was going to do, but I read a lot of comments on how they can screw up the MAF because of the oil that's applied on to them. Instead I went and got Mann filters.
If you get them, let us know what you think.
