Announced today that IG Metall, the German Engineering union, is planning a series of strikes over pay.<br>

In spite of there being more than 4m unemployed in Germany, the average German worker thinks it is their God-given right to have a substantial pay-rise every year, whether or not the economic conditions or their own personal productivity warrants it.<br>

One of the companies mentioned in the news report as being affected was DaimlerChrysler and this is hardly likely to increase the supply of SLs.<br>
