Announced today that IG Metall, the German Engineering union, is planning a series of strikes over pay.

In spite of there being more than 4m unemployed in Germany, the average German worker thinks it is their God-given right to have a substantial pay-rise every year, whether or not the economic conditions or their own personal productivity warrants it.

One of the companies mentioned in the news report as being affected was DaimlerChrysler and this is hardly likely to increase the supply of SLs.

My delivery time for a Porsche 944 increased by three months in 1984 because of a strike by the same union.
Re: Today's bad news....

...is that Sindelfingen near Stuttgart is on strike over pay and Bremen is expected to follow. Who knows also how many parts and sub-assemblies used in Bremen depend on Sindelfingen working. All this makes for more delivery delays.
