Hey everyone, new to the boards and wanted to say "Hi". Just picked up my new-to me Black 2001 CL500 with 29,800 original miles. To say it's saweet would be an understatement. Clean and perfect inside and out. Will add pic's when weather permits. Drove it 240 miles from NJ to NH last night and what a dream; comfortable, powerful and elegant.

Looking forward to logging many miles as I believe these cars should be driven as intended. I'm sure questions will come up and I'm excited about getting to know the car and the people here.

Have a great one!

First thing to learn is about your ABC. Active Body Control. Making sure you check the fluid on a monthly basis. Check the main ABC Sticky here and do some reading. Congratulations on your new CL. First thing I would do is upgrade the rear tailights.
The later version update the car and are brighter. Usually on E-Bay for about $ 300.00

To add to last post, more than likely it's een several years since the ABC fluid was changed in your vehicle and it likely has the older 10 micron filter vs the new 3 micron.
You should take your car to your nearest MB dealer and ask to have it checked to see that it's current on recalls. There was a recall on the instrument cluster and one of the ABC hoses that will likely apply to you and there is a 10 year limit (time is running out for 2001 cars). If they have to do the ABC hose you can likely negotiate a discount on getting a complete fluid replacement and save a few dollars.

Good luck from a fellow 2001 cl500 owner (48k miles).

also check the date on your body aceleration sensors, they have a recall on 2001
29k milles sound way low, when the milles are way low i double check the car, did you carfax the car or have it inspected? , should have the abc fluid flush and like the guys say replace the filter to newer version.
My 80 300te only have 20k milles few years back wen i got it and i have to re do the engine, was leaking everywere, seating engines would leak for a fact. Enjoy your car and drive it every day

Thank you for the tips. Bought the car from a Benz dealer in NJ. Car came with a clean car fax and a full documented maintenance history that verifies the mileage. 2 owner car; first had the car 2 years the 2nd for 8. I checked for outstanding recalls on the car and there are no outstanding notices. I'll look into the ABC fluids, filter and sensor work.

My car is badged with "Lorinser" emblem on the rear deck, can anyone tell me what that means. Did a search and came up with an aftermarket performance package but nothing unoriginal.

Thanks,
