Hello!

I juuust rolled over 110,000 miles on my turbo wagon 1982 300TD.

Does anyone know what should I tune up?

I've heard the following:

  1. Valve adjustments
  2. Make sure the timing chain is timed properly
  3. Make sure the injector pump is timed properly
  4. New filters
  5. New brake pads
  6. Flush transmission
  7. Flush radiator
  8. Oil change
  9. Rear differential flush

Thanks!!

all sound like good things to do. when was the last time these were performed. the valves are supposed by adjusted every 16,000 or so. radiator should be flushed yearly especially in severe climates. oil every 3,000 or so

Hello!

Does anyone know what should I tune up?

I've heard the following:

  1. Valve adjustments Depends on the last time it was done, go with once a year.
  2. Make sure the timing chain is timed properly If you're not having problems, I wouldn't bother.
  3. Make sure the injector pump is timed properly See previous answer.
  4. New filters Again, depends on the last time they were changed.
  5. New brake pads Measure the pads and rotors, install whatever needs to be.
  6. Flush transmission Depends on the last time it was done, filter too.
  7. Flush radiator Unless you have a problem, or if it makes you feel better, go ahead.
  8. Oil change Depends on when the last tme it was done, filter too.
  9. Rear differential flush Do it.

Thanks!!
As you can tell, routine maintenance is the key to longevity.
How long have you owned the car?
Have you done any maintenance yet?
Let us know what you end up doing.

Thanks for the replies!

I think I'll end up doing all of these.

Changing the oil was a breeze and actually, changing the brake pads was not too much of a hassle.

Man, I've got to get a car lift :)
