SWMBO's 380SL was courteously replaced by the PO with the uprated 560SL subframe (one big reason why I bought it).

We live on a pretty bumpy dirt road, that I am basically stuck maintaining (since all the Bubbas have trucks and SUVs). SWMBO makes a minimum of 4 passes on it, perhaps a half mile a day of moderate jostling, in picking up the Y2kid from school.

I know I will be rebuilding the subframe eventually, but is there real any danger of the "better" subframe coming unglued?

Anyone know of any reports of this?

Even if you are not an engineer you can see the design flaw in the subframe and how the gussett and modified 560 subframe eliminate the problem. Rest easy.

If you have the 560SL subframe OR a modified gusset subframe.....put those worries out of your head.

I modified my subframe with the gussets about 20,000 miles ago of hard driving.

Just check my signature for the proof!
