So over the last year or so I have been slowly ensuring the longevity of my beautiful E320 by taking care of some "known" general maintenance items such as relays, temp and air sensors, fuses, pulleys, headgasket, etc. I figure if I put just a few $$ a month in her in preventative stuff it will save me some pain and trouble later, PLUS I get the added benefit of documenting this and just getting to know her better and making sure everything is "just right". Yes I am OCD and AR according to my wife.... oh well... there could be worse things....

Well today was the O2 sensor, OVP relay, and voltage regulator replacement day... not that I am having any issues at all, but since the previous owners dealership would not give me a copy of my cars own service records... (bastages) I don't have a baseline on some of these items and have now had her for almost four years and put on just over 40K on the odometer in that time.

So long story short, all three of these items were an absolute dream to replace... from the time I disconnected my battery, replaced all three said items, and even gave her a good once over in the engine bay with my vacuum and did some cosmetic wire ties and black tape wraps it took less than an hour!! AWESOME!! Once I reconnect the battery, started her up and listen to her pur, I only had to reset my clock by like 55 minutes. And that include me taking a quick "bio-break" and popping the top on a Coke too.

It just gave me that nice warm feeling that to have a car that we admire, appreciate, drive it pleasurabley AND service most things in such a wonderful fashion... is just so awesome! Just had to share. :)

+1. But don't forget there's some real dumba** engineering too. Like a complicated integrated analog phone. Come on! It was (in my case) 1994. What engineer didn't see digital cell phones coming?
