Thats funny...

Seriously, without launching (I dont want to destroy the tranny) I could do a 0-60 in about 16 seconds. Thats with an engine with about 350K on it. I think a new 300DT could do 0-60 in the 13s. Not bad, considiring a new Jetta TDI does the same..

wow 200D 0-60?

good thing is that it has a manual tranny. It would be a good race between it and my dad's 50hp jetta diesel. the Jetta was about 22 seconds 0-60 alot of delivery trucks could beat that car in a stoplight drag.

Weather clear and sunny, 72F, 45% humidity, Barometer 29.96

Road, straight, dry and smooth.

Average of 5 runs, 0-60 in 12.7 seconds.

Now how's that for a scientific test run.

Triffic... if you did runs in opposite directions to prevent effects of wind and gradient. And used a calibrated speedometer rather than the one on the car.

Well, you sort of got me on the speedometer. The car's speedometer was calibrated against a master speedometer. I have a record of actual speed vs. speed indicated.
There was no measurable wind at the time of the test.

Well I tested the 300d yesturday night and it's 0-100km/h in 15.1s It's a 79 with around 50 000 miles on it and a k&n air filter, non turbo.
Thought I'd give the W123 forum a little bit more life, so I revived this thread!

Best times for me 0-60mph is 12 seconds, still w/EGR. Haven't figured out 1/4 mile yet...the 300SD W126 does it around 20 seconds, so I would guess the same.

I'm pretty sure there are unmodified OM617 engines out there that can do 12 seconds! Must be in really good condition!

81 280e best to date is 9.6 to 100 k's near enough to 60 miles , been told it could do 9.5's.[:D]
Yes I think 9.5sec was stock for the 280e. Or was it 8.5? [8D]
Similar, but closer to 10 sec 0-100 km/h for 280 TE, all original, 230000 km, (automatic transmission).
