I just did tranny fluid and filter today at the local dealer (mercedes benz thornhill) and after tax and everything is 380 canadian dollars does it sound normal? It took about 2.5 hrs. I remember I had my W210 E55 fluid and filter change last year at the same dealer was only $250 canadian after tax and took them 4 hrs to do it. Did they raise the price or is just a different price for different tranny?

This is what is known as a 'spilt milk' post. No use :crybaby2: since you've already spent it. But I think you were treated fairly.

How tough is it to? I prefer to diy when possible, I like working on my vehicles and know it will be done with care.

it is pita in that there is no refill plug...just an overflow pipe...i plan to do but not due for long time...just tip back, empty, change filter, put back on with new gasket, pump fluid back in thru overflow...but all just theory....no one has done themselves...

Technically I'm due in a few thousand miles. I'll consider giving it a go after the winter if I can find some information online, or talk to a mechanic. In theory, I think the only possible PIA would be pumping the fluid back. Definitely the type of job one would want to do when it's relatively warm, skin tends to tear more easily when cold...;)

I did same service (part of some other correction inside warranty) and they charge me about same money (I think 305 $ + tax).

Every new car does require more maintenance or training for technicans ..I think you paid right price ...
