Thanks again,
After I got a new set of tires, I headed JUST BRAKES for brake job (brake light was on dash).

Thanks god, rotor was fine.
I got new disc pads and for all four wheels and disc hardware for front wheel.
Also, I got resurfaced rotors too. I went a mechanic who specializes Mercedes and BMWs first, but he said he is not resurface rotors. He insists that it is not good resurfacing Mercedes rotors. And I went another mechanic who also specializes Mercedes over 40 years, and he said it is ok to resurface rotors. Who is right? In the end, I ended up with heading JUST BRAKES for cost concerns.

Anyhow, the break is really soft [?](feels like driving Toyota Camry) after I got fixed. It was very hard before. Is it right?

Just for the record, “Posi Quiet (made in U.S.A.) brand for pads and “entric for hoses.
I could not get Mercedes original parts. I feel bad for that.
Is it really matter between any aftermarket parts and OEM?

Wait for stroy about allignment on Thursday.
Coming soon ... [:)]

Hello Benz Devil,

My first suggestion given your Phoenix, AZ address would be to contact one of this forum's sponsers, Auto Haus Arizona. Their addy is autohausaz.com.....call them and ask for their recommendation for a reputable independent tech in your immediate area. In addition, I would call a combination of 10 bone yards, auto body repair shops and also towing companies. Ask them this question....I own a ________, I would like to know where you would go to have the best service performed if it was YOUR car. You will get 10 answers, but likely half of them or more will say the same place. This is where you should go. If the majority of their answers are the local MB Dealership......go home, pack your shit.....move to Tucson and start the questioning all over again!

You let those monkey's touch your car? Maybe if someone put a gun to my head I would let them mess w/ my brake system, but doubtful. Doing brake pads is an Easy and quick job. Quality OEM pads are about 40 and change (i'm partial to pagid..) and if you were to work slowly it might take you a bit over an hour to do both sides.

Also, you NEVER, EVER resurface rotors on these cars.. Just proves my theory on these just brakes yahoo's...
All of MB's literature clearly states their rotors should never be cut.

Yes, it does matter what parts you use, especially on your brakes.

I doubt they bled your brakes, you most likely have air in the line. If they did bleed them, they obviously didn't do a very good job..imagine that....

WHOA jhodg5ck,

He only bought the tires at PepBoys! They said go elsewhere for the brakes and alignment.....hehe. One mistake does not beget another, although PepBoys tiresare serviceable, depending on what you buy.

Sorry, it just Really gets to me when people bring these cars to such Sketchy places.. These are finely made, well crafted automobiles and my mind should be tended to as such. Pepboys and Just Brakes do not fall under my category of proper maintenance.
For tires, I order mine from the Tire Rack and take them to the local race shop for mounting and on the car balancing/alignment. Having work such as that done will only come out as good as the fellow operating the machinery and you will Not find much in the way of talent at any of those institutions.

Again, sorry if i was harsh, this is just one of my major pet peeves in life...[xx(]

Thanks for advice.

I am not against any of these companies, but obviously it was my mistake that taking Mercedes-Benz to PEP BOYS and JUST Brakes. Common mistake for first-time Mercedes owner, I assume. It will not happen again. I feel sorry for my Benz as well.

Holy sh**, I used to have chrome cap (matching with wheels) for air holes on wheels and I think PEP BOYS guys threw those away. I just realized that all of them are rubber now (that black little things look like rasins).
Where can I get those anyway?

Benz Devil,

Here’s how it works: new 126 owners need to post questions BEFORE having the work done or buying the parts. [:0] PLEASE don’t take your car to any more of these places. (my teeth are on edge just reading your posts.[xx(]) Do as Gary suggests and ask around for a good MB tech to work on your car. In fact, I think you need to have an MB tech redo your brakes (chalk the extra money up to a lesson learned); install new rotors if needed and a fresh set of Textar pads. I bet your brakes will feel 100 percent better. [:)]

resurfacing

RE resurfacing the Rotors, i feel it is okay to resurface if the rotors are glazed, but are still within tolerances.

Anyone want to refute/support that belief?

Jonathan is right on every count. DO NOT RESURFACE they are already within a narrow tolerance band. The disks are cheap brand new and will cost you as much if not cheaper than machining them by some do gooder that have no idea what they are dealing with. I had an idiot tell me that my rotor needs machining because it was warped, I think his brain was that way. I replaced all four disks mysefl without a single problem.

I'll concur on the "never turn the rotors" vote. The cost of new ATE slotted discs was just over $100. std type rotors are around $50 ea. So why bother? I seem to get two sets of pads before the rotors show any wear. As far as Just Brakes goes, if you drive a Hondayotasan, they probable do a pretty good job, but our cars are so easy to do, just find someone on this forum thats close and they will probably do them for a few beers and a burger...Heck some of these guys will probably require a place to sleep after a few beers....And I also go with the Tire Rack statement from Jonathan, best deal I found on wheels, tires, etc. Everything came mounted, balanced, all hardwear, spacers, just put 'em on and go.

Hmm. was personally questioning the " don't resurface" thoughts. I thought my disks looked pretty beefy. well, i do read and listen to the guys on here. looked up the price of new rotors and I've seen places charge just as much to resurface. they are cheap.
great advice gentlemen.
my 2 cents
